Psi (Y) Value Studies
NBT Consult has been undertaking advanced work into repeating and non-repeating cold bridges. This study of psi values has given NBT Consult unique insight into simple and cost effective means of improving sustainable buildings thermal performance. The higher the initial U-Values, the more important having properly assesed and detailed psi values becomes - having a significant impact on the buildings performance.
Initial work has focussed on Thermoplan Ziegel and timberframe build-ups and detailing, however work underway is also looking at wider systems. Typically NBT Consult has halved the heat loss associated with non-repeating cold bridges in these systems; a cost neutral gain for developers and bulders.
