Education: BA in Modern History, Oxford, M Phil in Sociology, Delhi University (Commonwealth Scholar)
Neil was an academic and also a filmmaker, before becoming a building labourer in 1988 for 4 years, and then
setting up his own award winning ecological and conservation building company, Neil May Builders.
In 1999 Neil set up Natural Building Technologies (NBT ) www.natural-building.co.uk, a company that sells and develops ecological building materials and systems for the mainstream construction industry in the UK. Neil is now Managing and Technical Director.
Neil regularly lectures to universities, architects, councils and central government departments on a wide variety of subjects connected with sustainable construction. He sat on the Environmental Innovation and Growth Team under Lord Sainsbury and Lord Whitty in 2002 and is on a number of advisory boards and committees.
Neil is also Chairman of the Good Homes Alliance (www.goodhomes.org.uk), a new organisation of environmental developers and building professionals, whose founder members include NBT, BioRegional Quintain, The Princes Foundation and University College London.
