Education: studied Mechanical Engineering at UCL sponsored by GEC then transferred to Warwick to study Engineering Design and Appropriate Technology for two years before taking a year out to travel, never to return.

Nick Grant NBT ConsultIn his ‘year out’ Nick helped set up Michaelis Engineering which designs and manufactures aids for people with intention tremor. In the early 1980s he spent formative time working at CAT including a short stint covering for the site engineer during his sabbatical.

Nick has been designing and building ecological wastewater treatment systems since 1988 and carrying out research and development of water efficient products, rainwater and greywater systems since 1995.

He has practical and theoretical experience in water efficiency and reuse with particular experience in evaluation of site-specific ecologically appropriate solutions based on simplified life-cycle and economic assessments.

Nick has written numerous publications, papers and articles including for the BRE and the Environment Agency and has contributed chapters to many more.

Whilst water is his main focus he has always been interested in buildings and energy and has designed and built his own low-carbon water-efficient home.
